The A.L.E.S.A. organized in association with the Province of Chieti and Fox Petroli Inc. a seminar about the production of biodiesel with the awareness that in a wide scenario that proposes alternative environmental models based on the energy saving, the development of renewable energy sources, the promotion of sustainable and efficient mobility, the take-off of "integrated chains of biodiesel" could contribute to the creation of sustainable, environmental and economical conditions in a concrete way.
BIOFUELS: Production and raw materials
The industrial italian production of biodiesel started on 1992 and at the present there are 8 plants that produce every year 500.000-600.000 ton.
The production process of biodiesel includes the seed pressing in order to obtain vegetable oil and oilcake. The oil, subjected to further processes, originates the biodiesel.
It is possible to obtain the biodiesel from several kind of fat substances such as vegetable oil, animal fats, acid oil. There are, however, several limits that restrict the set of fat substances usable: the cost that has to be compatible with the market price of the end product; the availability of adequate quantitive to power the plants and the quality of the supplies.
