About Žilina

The Town of Žilina is the centre of the north-western Slovakia and is one of the biggest towns in the Slovak Republic.

Population: 85 268 (as of December 31,2004)

Surface area: 80.03 km2

Increase in the road transport became evident in the town of Žilina last years. More than 2/3 of trips are taken using private transport when compared to public transport. At the beginning of MOVE project there were no cycle paths officially registered in the town Žilina.

Local MOVE activities in Žilina

Overall aim of local MOVE project in Slovakia is to start the shifting to less energy intensive transport modes in the Town of Žilina.
