The Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden is working in commission of the Swedish Energy Agency and is mainly covering the
three counties of southeast Sweden Kalmar, Kronoberg and Blekinge. The Agency has 22 employees. The main task of the agency is to promote the development of more sustainable and efficient regional energy infrastructures.
ESS is operating as a regional hub and centre for information and development in the entire sphere of energy. The aim is to have an influence on production, distribution and usage of energy for heating; transportation and lighting. Strategic energy planning on all levels, from technical analysis and management consulting to development of regional energy plans and assistance in implementing energy policies, are all vital parts of the agencies work.
In the field of transportation, the main goal is to create a sustainable transportation sector in Southeast Sweden together with communities, local authorities, organisations and companies in the region by reducing the use of fossil fuels. In this purpose the Agency builds networks for information and contacts in the areas of renewable vehicle fuels, cycling, car-pooling joint purchasing, eco driving and freight transportation.
In the national and European arena the agency is a well-recognised actor. The Agency is on the board of directors and holds a vice president position in both the Swedish and European co-operation forum for Energy Agencies FSEK and FEDARENE.
