Energy Centre Bratislava ECB, Slovakia

The European Commission in the framework of the THERMIE programme set up the Energy Centre Bratislava in 1993, and from the autumn of 1995 until the end of 1996 it functioned as a part of the SYNERGY programme. Since 1997, ECB has been included into the structure of the Slovak Energy Inspection – Slovak Energy Agency (SEI-EA) as an organisation for foreign co-operation with a focus on EU projects carried out in Slovakia. Following a selection process, the ECB became a member of the FEMOPET network  and it became a regular member of the OPET network in January 2000.

The main goal of the activities of the Energy Centre Bratislava is to support and advocate measures and activities aimed at the rational use of energy and environmental protection. This includes supporting the utilisation of renewable sources of energy. The objective of the ECB is likewise to contribute to increasing the public’s energy awareness. By transferring innovative technologies and supporting the implementation of concrete projects, activities and legislative changes, the ECB plays an active part in improving the Slovak energy sector.
