Your without car day....

The organization of a "without car day" doesn't concern only the local transport, but it includes an educational path which ends with a final event that is a day in which the participants have invited to use sustainable means of transport.

Here a brief list of the steps to carry on for the organization of this path:

  • Analysis of the background: to make a survey of the scholastic area (number of parkings, number of bus stops, existence of railway stations, cycle lanes and associated distances).
  • Gathering of data about number of residential and commuting students.
  • Survey about the mobility of students and teachers in the house-school-house trip and in the free time.
  • Frontal lesson about the mobility management, the sustainable mobility, the current laws and best practices.
  • Organization of an activity that practically and directly involved the students (see the competition page for an example).
  • Realization of the final event that is the day in which the students and their teachers have invited to use alternative means of transport organizing a concluding meeting with the participation of all students, the teaching staff, the headmaster of the school and involving the local mass media for the promotion of the event.
  • Final survey to check the satisfaction about the whole project, the participation to the event and to calculate the avoided CO2 emissions.
