Without car school day project

The project implemented by A.L.E.S.A. at local level involved a pilot school, the Training School for Industry and Craft "G. Marconi" located in Ortona in the Province of Chieti. The project carried out several phases and planned, as a final event, the "Without car school day" that is a day in which the students and their teachers will be invited to use alternative means of transport encouraging changes of behaviours toward conscious choices of sustainable transport modes.

Encouraging students to use sustainable modes of transport going to school will contribute to their health, reduce the traffic congestion in the area of the schools and also reduce CO2 emissions.

Ojectives:

  • Increase knowledge about the mobility theme
  • Make aware the target groups about the effects concerning CO2 emissions in the transport sector
  • Encourage changes of behaviours toward conscious choices of sustainable transport modes
  • Contribute to reduce congestion around the school
  • Reduce car journeys

Target goups:

  • Students of a pilot upper-school
  • Teachers of a pilot upper-school

Instruments:

  • Selection of a school
  • Carry out a survey to know the travel habits of the students and teachers
  • Organization of meetings in the pilot school
  • Set up "Without car school day"
